Borrowing space

When all you need is a blanket of dust under a starlit sky,
a plaster moon in June…

You will feel the weight of your body.

And realize the space you fill now
was empty before
and will be again.

Roadside cherries
Red, peeling nails
Warm desert wind.

You are hands of dust and feet of clay,
and wind and rain are near.
